Japanese Therapeutic Massage combined with Holistic stretches for healing!
Shiatsu literally means finger pressure and as such describes part of the therapy whereby natural body weight (finger, thumbs, elbows, forearms, feet and knees) are used in applying pressure to special points on the body.
This is combined with stretches, joint rotations to give an all-over treatment, which aims at treating the patient on a holistic level.
Stress Busting and Illness Prevention:
Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and regular Shiatsu sessions help to prevent the build up of stress. Shiatsu is one of the best healthcare methods in daily life that can not only prevent but treat disease. It’s also important for us to keep in mind that incorporation of shiatsu and a balanced diet is needed to keep us happy & healthy. Diet is the root of good health, for it is food that nourishes life.
Common conditions helped by Shiatsu include:
back pain, headaches, whiplash and neck stiffness, joint pain and reduced mobility, menstrual problems, digestive problems, asthmatic symptoms, sports injuries, depression and stress.

How does it work?
This is not just a massage it’s a preventive medicine! The way we live & consume our food is influenced greatly by our social environment. So, our extended health relies on and reflects healthy human relationships with ourselves and the people around us. In our stress filled environment, our relationships to ourselves and others are constantly being threatened. As a result a great deal of tension is carried around in our bodies. This creates cutaneous mounting pressure resulting in fatigue and burnout of the internal organs & our nervous systems. Shiatsu supports the natural state of energy flow throughout the body, bring balance and harmony back to the body and its relationships with food and its ever changing external environment.
This is a dynamic and holistic therapy that is suitable for all humans. Shiatsu is a medical treatment, medical technique must be chosen by the condition of the patient. Unlike Western medicine, Shiatsu is a technique used to seek out the original in-balance within the physical body rather than treating the surface systems. Shiatsu emphasises correction and maintenance of bone structure, joints, tendons, muscles and meridian lines whose malfunctioning distort’s the bodies energy and automatic nervous system causing illness & disease.
History of Shiatsu
Recognition of Shiatsu in Japan was brought about as a type of healing practice over 70 years ago. It is a combination of many traditional therapies founded in the Eastern world. Its is based on the subjective part of sickness – the patient. It is important to note that the effectiveness of any treatment depends on both the practitioner and the method working together. So the effectiveness of any treatment can vary greatly from one practitioner to another. In our eagerness as a society we have become objective scientifically, we have become insensitive to the subjective part of any sickness – That will be YOU. In order to find the most effective treatment for a patient, the practitioner should be receptive to many different types of therapy always keeping the patient in mind.
I must admit I have always been dubious as to whether yoga could really help me both physically and mentally, consequently I am so happy to report that the training met and went completely beyond my expectations. You have guided me to a place of greater understanding and openness. Your training is gentle and kind, yet challenging and new. You helped me to forget the worries of my day and tune into the moment. You are such a dedicated and compassionate trainer, I feel so blessed to have the privilege of being taught by you. Your positivity is absolutely infectious and your talent is enviable. After just 7 short weeks/14 hours of yoga training my life is entirely different. I am living a more focused, healthier lifestyle and already noticing increased energy levels and less back pain. I am also able to transfer what I have learnt into day-to-day situations to ease my level of stress. I am absolutely converted, more aware and at peace. I am sleeping better than I have in years, my life has been enriched physically, emotionally and spiritually. Yoga will now be a part of my life always. I look forward to continuing my training with you.
I had been having trouble with my stomach and digestion and aches around my body for months. My first visit to Krista was so enlightening as to how the body works and reacts to certain types of food and why. This is such an important part of our body and when we don’t eat properly or look after it with the correct exercise or treatment we go to pieces as I had done.
With her training aside, Krista instinctively knows her area of shiatsu and food nutrition extremely well and because of her calming nature, wealth of knowledge and also touched with an added great sense of humour it helps tremendously to put your mind and body at peace and get the problems sorted once and for all.
Krista you are a fantastic practitioner, thank you.
Krista is a bright strong warm intuitive woman who is very passionate about spirituality, yoga and energy. I know Krista through regular private small group yoga classes and a shiatsu massage. She has a lot to offer and I would highly recommend her in all the services she offers.
I had a couple of Shiatsu sessions with Krista and they were great! Krista is very knowledgeable and good at what she does. She is also a fantastic yoga teacher.
I love Krista’s energy and knowledge. I’ve attended her Yoga classes – the best hour of my day! And krista has performed shiatsu for me and really helped me with aches I’ve had for months! she is always striving to help everyone. Thanks Krista!
An enlightening experience, perfectly timed at a point in my yoga journey where I needed to understand more about my body. Krista demonstrated a keen understanding of the underlying issues associated with my ailments and set me off on a nutritional and remedial path to help manage my disfunctions . I would highly recommend a series of appointments with Krista, if only to understand your body a little better. Shiatsu massage was not what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised at the healing benefits and the relaxing and gentle nature of this practice.
I have been seeing Krista for sometime now for a shiatsu massage and I can definitely say that she is amazing! Whether you have joint pains, persistant headaches or soreness in your body, Krista is well trained to fix your problem. Doctors will tell you the symptoms of your problems but with Krista, she will find the route causes and will give you advice on how to reduce and eliminate them through a holistic approach instead of just taking antibiotics or tablets that a doctor would recommend. Krista, also gives you programs (such as a variety of stretching exercises) and recommend different foods/recipes to try that will help with your particular problem you may have.
Krista is a very positive person, has the knowledge and the skills for her practice. Since knowing her, she has become not just a person you go to if you have a back problem but also has become a friend of mine!
I would definitely highly recommend her to anyone.
You won’t be disappointed!
Krista worked magic at a time when my drive and energy level was extremely low. Her shiatsu massage came as a blessing giving me much needed relief from pain and allowing relaxing sleep afterwards. In a comfortable environment Krista took on the challenge to start the healing process for a sceptical mind. Thanks.
I saw Krista for a few different things that were hugely improved by her shiatsu sessions. I am so grateful (as are my lungs) for finding her!
